When Amazon does not allow you to update product details (title, bullet points, description, etc.) due to contributions from other sellers or brands, the most effective way to remove your existing contributions is by using an Inventory Loader file. This process helps reset your content so that you can re-upload the correct details later through a flat file without affecting your sales history or product reviews.
Step 1: Download the Inventory Loader File
-
Log in to your Amazon Seller Central account.
-
Navigate to:
Inventory → Add Products via Upload → Download an Inventory File. -
Choose Inventory Loader File.
-
Or directly download it here:

Step 2: Prepare the Inventory Loader File
Open the downloaded file in Excel and fill in the following key fields:
-
sku→ Enter the SKU(s) of the listings from which you want to remove contributions. -
add-delete→ Specify what you want Amazon to do:-
Enter
x→ Removes both your offer and your product detail contributions. -
Enter
d→ Deactivates your offer (sets inventory to 0) but keeps your content intact.
-
Example:
| sku | add-delete |
|---|---|
| test-sku-1 | x |
| test-sku-2 | d |
⚠️ Use x if your goal is to remove your contributions so you can re-list with new content.
Save the file as Text (Tab Delimited) (.txt) format.
Step 3: Upload the File
-
Go to Inventory → Add Products via Upload → Upload your Inventory File.
-
Upload the saved Inventory Loader file (.Delimited txt).
-
Submit and wait 24–48 hours for Amazon to process the request.
Step 4: Re-List Your Products with Correct Content
Once Amazon clears your contributions:
-
Download a Flat File (Category Specific Template) for your product.
-
Fill in your corrected product details (titles, bullets, descriptions, etc.).
-
Upload the flat file under Add Products via Upload → Upload your Inventory File.
Step 5: Always Take a Backup First
Before deleting contributions, always back up your current listing data:
-
Go to: Inventory → Inventory Reports.
-
From the dropdown, select Category Listings Report (CLR).
-
Request, download, and save it.
This ensures you have a copy of your current listing information in case you need to restore it.
